Privacy Policy for VoiceMate (VoiceReader)
This Privacy Policy describes how VoiceMate ("we", "our", "us") handles information when you use the VoiceMate mobile application (the "App").
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Text/content you choose to import or create in the App (for example: pasted text, OCR text from images, web article text, PDF and EPUB content).
- Profile fields you choose to enter (first name and last name).
- Voice preference selections.
Information collected automatically
- Subscription and purchase status (including restore results) via Apple StoreKit and receipt validation.
- App usage-related local settings (for example remaining trial count, selected voice, playback state).
Device permissions
- Camera access, if you choose camera-based OCR/import.
- Photos access, if you choose image-based OCR/import.
We do not use tracking for cross-app or cross-website advertising.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide core app functions (import, read, and text-to-speech playback).
- Generate speech audio from imported text.
- Save your reading library and playback progress.
- Enable premium features, subscriptions, free trials, and restore purchases.
- Maintain and improve app performance and reliability.
3. Third-Party Services
Microsoft Azure Speech Services
The App uses Microsoft Azure Speech Services to synthesize speech. Text you choose to convert to speech may be transmitted to Microsoft Azure for processing.
Apple In-App Purchases (StoreKit)
Subscription purchases are handled by Apple. We do not receive your full payment card details.
4. Data Storage and Retention
- Reading items, metadata, and related app content are primarily stored locally on your device.
- Local app preferences are stored in on-device storage (for example
UserDefaults). - Data sent to third-party processors is retained according to those providers' policies.
- You can remove local data by deleting app content in-app (if available) or uninstalling the App.
5. Sharing of Information
We do not sell personal information.
We may share information only:
- With service providers required to operate core features (for example Azure for TTS processing, Apple for purchases).
- If required by law, legal process, or to protect rights/safety.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
7. International Processing
Because third-party providers may operate globally, information may be processed in countries other than your own.
8. Your Choices
You may:
- Revoke camera/photo permissions in iOS Settings.
- Manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID subscription settings.
- Request deletion/help by contacting us at the email below.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures, but no method of transmission or storage is fully secure.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest version.
